Small Beach of Sant'Elia in Cagliari ~ 2 September 2019 | Sardinia

Just a few minutes from the village of Sant'Elia there is a hidden cove called "La Spiaggiola", known only to those visiting the area. A concrete staircase leads to the small beach, enclosed between the villas on the right and the high limestone walls of Capo Sant'Elia on the left. The beach is composed of fine sand and light cream-colored mixed with pebbles and rocks, the water is transparent and emerald green. The seabed is initially low and sandy, but quickly becomes deep and rocky. Often cormorants lurking in the rocks to the south not far from the beach visit the bathers of the cove. About 300 meters off the Torre Perdusemini rises the islet of Sa Perda Liada or Scoglio di Sant'Elia, clearly visible from the beach. It is a large sub-round rock about 50 meters long, about 10 meters high and with sparse vegetation on its surface. A short distance away you can reach a small pearl of Cagliari almost unknown, the beach of Cala Bernat. Also called “La Spiaggetta”, Spiaggia del Lazzaretto, of Santo Stefano or “Su Perdusemini”, it is almost inaccessible. Located halfway between the "Lo Scoglio" restaurant and the overhang in front of the tower, the only access is through a ladder in a private residence located on its left side. The last stretch of limestone is however a bit slippery and therefore access is not for everyone, especially if you are not trained and without adequate shoes. It is much easier to reach Cala Bernat from Sant’Elia beach by canoe or swim. Once there, you will be entranced by the turquoise water and the fine limestone-colored sand. If possible, we will explore it soon. How to get: From the center of Cagliari take viale Colombo and follow the signs for the Sant'Elia stadium. After the stadium, you must turn to Borgo Sant'Elia, from here continue for about one km and take a dirt road whose entrance is visible near a football field. Follow it all up to the parking lot above the beach. The Sant'Elia lighthouse and the Spanish towers in the area are within easy reach. SOURCE: http://spiaggesarde.altervista.org/sp... SUBSCRIBE.
