FAITH AND SERVICE | The Word Exposed with Cardinal Tagle (October 5, 2025) with Sign Language Today is the Twenty-seventh Sunday in Ordinary Time, and the gospel presents a lesson on faith and service. Jesus tells his apostles, “If you have faith the size of a mustard seed,” you would be able to command a mulberry tree to move. In any given situation, especially in discipleship and mission, faith can make a difference—and can even do what may seem impossible. Then the Lord adds a reminder—after faith has done its marvels, after the apostles have done all that they have been commanded to do, they must remember, “We are unprofitable servants; we have done what we were obliged to do.” We need to realize and understand our role in God’s work. Who causes faith? Who calls us to faith, discipleship, and mission? Who works marvels through us—through our testimony and works? God. Let us not forget it is God who gives faith and calls to service.
