Add to that the happiness of your cat, and it can be a super challenging situation and if your cat doesn't take well to the new addition, the guilt that follows can be unbearable - we all want happy cats and happy dogs! Here are my top tips for introducing a puppy to your resident cat. The overarching theme is keeping control of your puppy (while making sure they're happy!) and giving your cat as much control in the situation as possible. Give them the choice to interact or to leave, help them be around your puppy without receiving too much unwanted attention from your new dog and help them get to know each other in a safe and low pressure way. Giving your cat opportunities to get up high is essential!
