Ian with etrailer here, and today we're gonna be installing the B&W underbed gooseneck hitch on our 2024 GMC Sierra. Let's go over a few features of it and then we'll take care of the install. Your benefit of this underbed hitch is that if you we inchesre to remove this ball, you can use the B&W Companion, that's just gonna be a drop in fifth wheel option, to be able to switch between if you have a couple of trailers. So the GMC Sierra is already known as a very capable vehicle, and we see it very commonly used for smaller towing capabilities. But to be able to branch out beyond that, I definitely would turn towards B&W for either a fifth wheel or gooseneck. And we're gonna be installing this drop-in gooseneck here. Some benefits of that are not only gonna be increasing your towing capability and what specifically you can tow, but you're also gonna be able to retain all of your factory bed as a full, opposed to having some large fifth wheel in the way. So if you're gonna be towing the gooseneck, I would definitely go towards this. And as I had mentioned, you are gonna be able to retain the entire use of your bed thanks to these recessed safety chain loops. And then this wall is actually removable completely if you wanted to take it out, but you can also use the hitch to be able to store it when not in use. This does have a latching system that you can lock it in either position with it out and exposed or in this lower dropped in position as well. And when you're ready to use it, all you have to do is just grab this right here, pull up, the entire thing will flip over, and then you head back over to the driver wheel well in order to latch that. Here in the driver wheel well is where that latching system will be. So we just press the lever, it locks back into place and we're ready to tow. When it comes to weight ratings for this particular hitch, for the 2 5/16 ball that we've got, for the towing capability, we're looking at 30,000 pounds, and then the pressure down on, so that tongue weight, if you will, is gonna be 7,500 pounds. Of course, you will want to double-check your Sierra's owner manual, see what the weight ratings are for your particular truck, and go with that lower number, if it happens to be lower, just for safety. I'm gonna walk you through the entire process when it comes to installing this underbed system and drilling through the bed here, which is gonna be the most tedious and nerve wracking part of it 'cause we just wanna make sure we've got that hole lined up. The rest of it is extremely heavy and it's very difficult to get the hardware all lined up once we've got everything in place. I'm gonna walk you through that, just like I said. We'd be happy to help you find a trained professional in your area that can get this installed for you. But for all those DIYers, let's go ahead and hop into it and I'll get you taken care of. We are gonna be starting underneath the vehicle, we're gonna remove the spare tire just so we've got more room to access things like the heat shield and we're also gonna be moving the exhaust out of the way. We do wanna make sure that we've got our good safety EyePro and anything else we may need to be under the vehicle. You also wanna make sure that you've got a jack with you so that way if we need to lift up the back of the vehicle, we can do that from the hitch. So just things I wanted to mention. Start by getting that spare tire out of the way and we're gonna be coming to the heat shield right here. On that heat shield, we've got six 13 millimeter bolts that will need to remove. Just make sure you are holding onto this as you remove the last couple bolts so that way it doesn't come down on you, and the edges can be sharp, so do be careful. Wanted to mention we're gonna be going a little out of order compared to what the instructions have. Reason behind that is doing a few of these, we've seen that it's easier to have every
