London shares a video clip of Martin Bernal being interviewed directly about Egyptian racial identity. In the interview, Bernal says plainly that the ancient Egyptian population was black, though not exclusively West African in phenotype, since Africa contains enormous phenotypic variety. He identifies the foundation of Egypt as coming from upper Egypt and Nubia, and describes the early dynasties — including the ones responsible for Egypt's greatest cultural achievements — as originating from this southern black population.
