Sweet Little Sixteen - Chuck Berry Cover - Jez Quayle Rock and Roll
Chuck Berry had a knack for capturing cartoon-like slices of 1950s America in his lyrics. This one describes a teenage rock 'n' roll fanatic, and refers to the very popular music performance and dance TV show, 'American Bandstand'. 'Sweet Little Sixteen' was originally released in 1958. A few years later, The Beach Boys borrowed (or you might say 'stole') the melody for their song 'Surfin' USA'. In 2004 Rolling Stone magazine ranked the song number 272 on its list of the "500 Greatest Songs of All Time". A song sheet containing the lyrics and chords we play can be viewed or downloaded from my songbook blog here: https://jezquaylesongbook.home.blog/g...
