BEGINNER'S LUCK?! Pouring 1st Concrete Slab on Our Home Reno

After a long slog of removing the old floor in the stone house, it was time for us DIYers to pour the new concrete subfloor. But it wasn’t all smooth sailing! We were up against sickness, adverse weather & delays - ya know, just the usual struggles when you’re building your own home off grid! 😉 Before we could start to pour the stone cabin’s new concrete slab, we needed to prepare by installing the reinforced steel rebar grid to give much needed structural strength to the finished floor. We aimed to complete the pour in the cottage in just 1 day! Too ambitious?? DEFINITELY! Our little DIY team consisted of Ricky on chief concrete laying & levelling duties & me (Victoria) manning the concrete mixing station, & it was a pretty smooth production line...most of the time!
