When day broke, he called his disciples and chose twelve of them, whom he also named apostles: Simon, whom he named Peter, and Andrew his brother; James, John, Philip, Bartholomew, Matthew, Thomas; James the son of Alphaeus; Simon called the Zealot; Judas the son of James; and Judas Iscariot, who was the traitor. After he had come down with them, he stood on a plain with a large group of disciples and a large crowd of people from all over Judea, Jerusalem, and the seacoast around Tyre and Sidon. They came to hear him and to be healed of their illnesses. Those tormented by unclean spirits were healed, and all the people tried to touch him, because power was going out from him and healing them all. Word of the Lord
