Making Mochi in a Pan (No Microwave Recipe)

Learn how to make mochi in a pan instead of using a microwave. Cooking Japanese rice cakes on the stove requires more patience and attention to detail than making it in the microwave. Our mochi recipe in a pan will show you the key tips you need to follow. 🍴Ingredients you'll need for our recipe: 130g glutinous rice flour 3-4 tbsp sugar 140-150ml water To make chocolate strawberry mochi filling: 6 strawberries 85 g dark chocolate 20 g unsalted butter 40 g heavy cream 👨🏼‍🍳 For our microwave or steamer version, see our recipe here: https://www.honestfoodtalks.com/how-t... 👨🏼‍🍳 For our chocolate ganache version, see our recipe here: https://www.honestfoodtalks.com/choco... 🥣 Tools you'll need: pan pestle (optional) rolling pin baking paper 📝 Compared to our steamer and microwave recipes, this version uses more water as the water can evaporate quickly when cooking on the stove. You can add 1-3 tbsp of water if the mixture is too thick initially. You can always cook it longer on the pan to reduce the water. 📝 To avoid overcooking the dough mixture on the pan, ensure your pan is on low to medium-low heat. You can always remove it from the stove periodically while you stir and knead. 📝 To make the dough squishy and soft, we recommend pounding it using a pestle until you hear a popping sound. However, this is an optional step. 📝 Instead of using a rolling pin and baking paper to flatten the dough, you can also use the palm of your hand and pinch it.
