Today’s Reflection on the Readings In today's Gospel, we learn that Zachariah temporarily lost consciousness when he doubted Gabriel's announcement of the birth of Jesus. But now that he has received the Holy Spirit, the dumb man opens his mouth and sings joyfully about the incarnation of the Son of God. The elderly man holds the miracle child in his arms as he thinks about the amazing events unfolding right before his eyes. He explains that God has come to His people and has redeemed them as He had promised through the holy Prophets. He has come to set us free from the bonds of sin, to deliver us from the grip of our foes, and to teach His people about the way of salvation that is found in the pardoning of sins. The same Savior is knocking on the door of our hearts right now, waiting for us to answer. Therefore, dear friends, let's open the door and let Jesus come in to heal us of all our flaws. Prayer Lord, I thank you for this day and all the blessings you have given us. Lord, bless us as we approach Christmas Eve. Lord, please assist each member of my family under Mother Mary's Protection in developing a daily awareness of your mercy and tenderness, which are constantly at work in our lives.
