Ibrahim al-Obeidi, a representative of the Shiite Houthi rebels, said on Tuesday that his group is prepared for talks and would welcome any agreement sponsored by the UN. The Geneva talks are expected to begin on 14 June, according to Yemen's ambassador to the United Nations. Sanaa residents on Wednesday also expressed hope that warring parties would reach a peaceful solution. The Houthis began their advance in September, sweeping into the Yemeni capital, Sanaa, and taking over government ministries and other areas.
