NTSB details final transmission from Bryant pilot

(28 Jan 2020) The final transmission from the pilot of NBA legend Kobe Bryant's helicopter said he was climbing to avoid cloud layer, an official for the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) said on Monday. Briefing reporters in Calabasas, where the helicopter came down on Sunday, Jennifer Homendy of the US agency said investigators had begun to document the scene and collect evidence. While the official investigation has now begun, some aviation experts have asked whether the helicopter should have even been flying in the first place. The weather was so foggy at the time of the crash that the Los Angeles Police Department and the county sheriff's department had grounded their own choppers.
