MJ was a global superstar and his appeal is timeless, thanks to the moonwalk slide, iconic music videos, and pop hits that everyone knows the words to. But, besides that, he was a great performer, he lit up the stage every time he went on to perform his art. We pay tribute to Michael Jackson by revisiting three of his most memorable performances. In today’s video, we’ll look at the top 3 Michael Jackson live performances. So, without messing around, let's get started! [INTRO] 3. Motown label anniversary, 1983 The Motown label celebrated its 25th anniversary on March 25, 1983. On a night that would go down in pop and dance history, Michael Jackson performed fan-favorite Billie Jean at a televised event in Los Angeles to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Motown label. The pop star performed a dance move unlike anything the audience had seen from him before: a backward slide inspired by mime artists Marceau and James Brown. It was the King's first moonwalk, a move that would soon become his trademark. 2. MTV Video Music Awards,1995 Michael Jackson kicked off the VMAs in 1995 with an unforgettable medley. The same evening, the pop star won three awards for his music video for Scream, a duet with his sister Janet (Best Choreography in a Video, Best Dance Video, and Best Art Direction in a Video). Jackson was a regular at the VMAs, winning several awards each year. He received the Video Vanguard Award in 1988 for his lifetime achievement in music, and the award was renamed the Michael Jackson Vanguard Award in his honor in 1991. 1. Half-time at the Superbowl, 1993 This is arguably Michael Jackson's most remarkable performance of his career. For 13 minutes straight, he lit up the Rose Bowl Stadium in Pasadena with signature dance moves and vocal performances of Jam, Billie Jean, Black and White, and Heal the World. He was the first international music star to perform at the Super Bowl, launching a trend that continues to this day, with the biggest names in music (Beyoncé, Stevie Wonder, U2, The Rolling Stones, Prince, Madonna) providing half-time entertainment.
