Does Cooler Size Affect Ice Retention? Test Results, Does Cooler Size Matter? Igloo 40Q Vs Igloo 55Q

There is a lot of talk when comparing coolers if size matter? Does a larger cooler have an advantage over a smaller cooler? In our Five Day Ice Challenge we tested coolers as small as 20Q and as large as 85Q. However, we wanted to have a test within a test to see when keeping manufacturer and cooler style constant, if there is a noticeable difference in ice retention. We compared the Igloo Sportsman 40Q to the Igloo Sportsman 55Q and found NO noticeable difference in ice retention abilities. This is the same cooler manufacturer and model cooler with a 15 quart difference between the two. Both held ice for the full 5 days and had ice to go another day or so.
