The longest Resident Evil with more action sections and storylines than most games see through their entire series, RE6 tried to offer everything to fans, but all it did was create a mess of confusion. With no identity, and lack of polish, RE6 lost love with fans that Capcom made with the highly regarded Resident Evil 4 and 5. RE6 has a whole cast of characters to play as. Leon, Ada, Chris return, but newcomers in Jake, Helena, and Sherry Birkin become playable. As well as the legend that is Agent.. Capcom also create a story that's so over the top it may as well be World War 3. Needlessly high stakes with cities getting wiped one after another, the world that is Resident Evil seems to have gone to true Hell, making Silent Hill look like a joyful vacation stay. To match the heavier action, the gameplay as been improved upon. Now characters can dive, roll, running kicks, and do sliding turns. To the people that do love this action horror, it is one of the most fluid action games once the controls are understood. To those unwilling to learn, it's an overly complex and awkward game to play. Which brings me to Mercs. It returns in Resi 6, and it's here you'll put the new moves to their potential. While not my favourite Mercs mode of the series, it's still worth hours of your time getting addicted to. Massively flawed, RE6 still has charms I admire. The highlight being that of Chris Redfield's story, and a few of the other characters personal stories being given focus. I find RE6 puts to bed any questions of Chris being a dull character, as you'll see me rant about during this playthrough. He's given the most depth and love by the writing team, and with RE7 and RE8 starring him once again, it's no surprise he's seen as the hero of the Resident Evil franchise. Overall, Resident Evil 6 is a game many would pass on, and one I can't completely recommend to people unless their Resi lore fans like myself. If you want a solid action Resi, RE5 is all you need. However, if you feel you're up to the task of trying out this bloated title, you'll still be able to leave with a few gold nuggets in your pocket. Flawed, but has its charms. More on the game: Resident Evil 6 allows players to select between four scenarios with interwoven storylines centered on Division of Security Operations (DSO) agent Leon S. Kennedy, Bioterrorism Security Assessment Alliance (BSAA) Captain Chris Redfield, mercenary Jake Muller, and spy Ada Wong. In the Leon, Chris, and Jake scenarios, players have the option of controlling either them or their respective partners, United States Secret Service agent Helena Harper, BSAA sniper Piers Nivans, and DSO agent Sherry Birkin. The character not selected by the player is controlled by either artificial intelligence (AI) or another player via local or online multiplayer. Ada's scenario can be played with or without a partner and a second player who joins will control the non-canonical character Agent. In addition, each scenario features a different play-style; for example, some player-characters are more vulnerable to attacks whereas others are more resilient. Each central character has unique abilities, which vary from increased reload times and carrying more ammunition. Resident Evil 6 presents new gameplay mechanics such as rolling in any direction and running while shooting and sliding. The game also features a four-player co-operative mode. When playing in single player mode, the player can allow another player to join in online at any time. While performing certain actions, quick time events may occur, in which the player must follow onscreen prompts by pressing buttons or manipulating joysticks within a limited amount of time.
