Holy God, we praise thy name - Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Prestwich, Manchester

#organ #churchorgan #pipeorgan Me playing the organ at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Prestwich, Manchester. The organ was built in 1952 by Jardine & Co and is located on the west gallery. A history of the church states that the organ was erected in memory of Father Browne who was Parish Priest when the church was built in 1930 and 'rebuilt from a concert organ'. On first impression it would look like the organ is divided on each side of the gallery but the case on the right when looking up from the nave is empty and has a dummy pipe facade. I imagine this was purely done for decoration. The specification reads: PEDAL Bourdon 16' Flute 8' Great to Pedal Swell to Pedal GREAT Open Diapason 8' Clarabella 8' Dulciana 8' Principal 4' Fifteenth 2' Swell to Great Octave SWELL Viola 8' Viol D' Orchestre 8' Rohr Flute 8' Gemshorn 4' Cornopean 8' Sub Octave Unison Off Octave Tremulant ACCESSORIES 2 thumb pistons to great and pedal duplicated by toe pistons 2 thumb pistons to swell duplicated by toe pistons 1 reversible thumb piston - swell to great I am playing the hymn "Holy God, we praise thy name" to the tune 'Grosser Gott' from the book 'Celebration Hymnal for Everyone'. Many thanks to the church officials for allowing me access to this superb instrument.
