Barthelemy vs Ramirez HIGHLIGHTS: September 26, 2017 - PBC on FS1
When Mexican and Cuban fighters face-off in the ring, it’s sure to entertain. That’s exactly what we got when undefeated fighters Leduan Barthelemy and Eduardo Ramirez met on Sept. 26, 2017 on PBC on FS1. Leduan Barthelemy stuck to his Cuban boxing style in the early rounds. He used his jab to create distance and keep his opponent at bay. By doing so, Barthelemy was able to pick his spots and land bodyshops and in the early rounds. Eduardo Ramirez was the aggressor in most of the fight. Rarely stepping back, he was able to walk through Leduan’s punches in RD 4, keep his pace in RD 5, and by RD 6, dominate the round. As the fight reached the half way point, Leduan seemed to be running out of gas. He would keep his hands down and would get caught with punches by Ramirez on a more consistent basis. Ramirez and Barthelemy exchanged punches in RD 8 & RD 9. but it seemed as if Ramirez was pulling away. He continued to pressed Barthelemy, stalked his opponent, threw and landed more punches. He seemed to be the more active fighter in the second half of the fight. The final round would be a decisive one, as the fight still looked very close. Leduan opened up as the aggressor. He landed punches early, but when it turned into a slugfest midway through the fight Ramirez was landing power punches at will. Ramirez and Barthelemy left it all in the ring in the last 15 seconds of the round for the judges to decide the victor. After 10 rounds of boxing the match ended in a draw, with the judges scoring the fight 97-93 Barthelemy, 96-94 Ramirez and 95-95.
