Lenten Midweek Worship Holden Evening Prayer Feb 21, 2024

Marty Haugen wrote Holden Evening Prayer during the winter of 1985–1986 while at Holden Village in the North Cascade Mountains of Washington state. To mark the 30th anniversary of its composition, Marty expanded the content of the vespers service by adding several new psalm settings for Advent and/or Lent. O Lord, support us all the day long, until the shadows lengthen and the evening comes, and the busy world is hushed, and the fever of life is over, and our work is done. Then, Lord, in thy mercy grant us a safe lodging, and a holy rest, and peace at last, through Jesus Christ our Lord.
