The Fox and the Crow One bright morning, a clever Fox was walking through the forest, sniffing the air to find something to eat. He saw a Crow sitting on a tree branch above him. But this wasn’t just any Crow. This Crow had a delicious piece of cheese in her beak. The Fox thought to himself, “I don’t need to look any farther. That cheese will be my breakfast!” The Fox walked over to the base of the tree, looked up, and said sweetly, “Good morning, beautiful Crow!” The Crow tilted her head, watching the Fox carefully. She didn’t trust him, so she kept the cheese in her beak and didn’t say anything. “You are such a lovely bird!” said the Fox. “Your feathers shine so brightly. You have such beautiful wings and a graceful shape! I bet you have a wonderful voice too. Would you sing me a song? I just know I would call you the Queen of Birds.” The Crow was flattered by all the nice words. She had always wanted to be called the Queen of Birds! So, she opened her beak to sing as loudly as she could. As she did, the piece of cheese fell from her beak and right into the Fox’s mouth. The Fox smiled and said, “Thank you for the cheese.
