Photoshop Lesson 3 - Complex Calavera

Photoshop Lesson 3 - Complex Calavera

In this video, our students dive deeper into non-destructive editing using photoshop and begin to learn about blend modes and opacity levels using the paint brush. They will also be briefly introduced to the type tool. Apologies in advance, this video does go quite fast through the lesson and I will update and add a slower version that talks more in depth about the blend modes and the steps for creating a detailed Calavera Coloring page with non-destructive editing. This video is aimed more directly to those who have been following along since lesson 1. This specific lesson includes: Practicing using the Layers Panel Continues to Reinforce How Layers Work / Stack Paint Brush Tool and Opacity Contiguous and All Layers Checkboxes History Panel Shift & CTRL + Clicking the Layer Image for Selection Here's some more information on Photoshop Blending Mode Categories: Normal: These blend modes apply colors as they are without changing much; it’s like layering paint on top. The top layer simply covers or combines with the one below it. Darken: These blend modes make things darker by keeping the darkest parts of each layer visible. They’re useful for adding shadows or deepening colors. Lighten: These do the opposite of Darken, keeping the lightest parts of each layer visible. They’re helpful for brightening images or adding highlights. Contrast: These blend modes increase the difference between light and dark areas, making the image look more intense or “popped.” They’re great for adding dramatic effects. Inversion: These blend modes flip colors in unique ways to create a reversed or unusual look, often with bright or unexpected effects. They’re often used for creative or abstract results. Component: These blend modes focus on specific parts of color, like hue (color), saturation (color intensity), or luminosity (brightness), allowing you to change only certain aspects of each layer.
