Kick up the pants

Meadow by the river Sturba in Canton 10 (Livanski Canton) Sturba Meadow - near Livno, Western Bosnia today at 1815 hours 27th July 2009 The silence broke with the arrival of sheep signalled by the metallic chink of a bell fastened around an unlucky recipient To late, the Choban's dogs have smelt the food lain out upon the picnic rug and diverted from their task, a sharp retort in native tongue from mum directed at the cheekiest of the two saves the day - Why is it the smallest are the gamest ? The dogs soon left, was it mum with her special powers or some secret signal from the Choban; the meadow now resounding with the Chobans shrill commands seemed as timeless as an alpine pasture with its river winding through Whats this now, some swifts invade our rivers reaches and momentarily divert our thoughts to scan the evening sky; like a Squadron of a nations favourite flight-the Red Arrows-performing manouevres of such high standard that surely plumes of red white and blue will follow; maybe they are Swallows Who knows, but we are at peace now and no thoughts of bills or other sundry matters will divert our pleasure from the Sturba meadow. (Choban is spelt Coban - Turkish / Balkan word for shepherd)
