Welcome to our first-time watching as we react to Scream (2022) also known as Scream 5. Scream (2022), also referred to as Scream 5, is a slasher film that serves as both a sequel to Scream 4 (2011) and a soft reboot of the iconic Scream franchise. Directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett who are known as directing duo Radio Silence, the film marks the first in the series not directed by Wes Craven, following his passing in 2015. It combines nostalgia with modern commentary on the horror genre and fandom culture. Set 25 years after the original Woodsboro murders, a new Ghostface killer emerges, targeting a group of teenagers connected to the town's dark past. The story begins with Tara Carpenter (Jenna Ortega) being attacked by Ghostface, drawing her estranged sister, Sam Carpenter (Melissa Barrera), back to Woodsboro. Sam reveals she has a dark secret—she's the illegitimate daughter of Billy Loomis, one of the original Ghostface killers. Sam teams up with Dewey Riley (David Arquette), who is now retired and estranged from Gale Weathers (Courteney Cox), and Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell), who returns to help stop the killings. Together, they navigate a web of twists, betrayals, and the challenges of confronting a new generation's horror obsessions.
