Go Vegan Grow VLog #30 - Are Vegans At Risk Of Iron Deficiency Anemia
In the next of Dave Sheahan's Go Vegan Grow Vlogs he addresses the concern of iron deficiency anemia with many vegans and those considering adopting a plant based vegan lifestyle. It is a common argument in the vegan vs meat eater debate and vegan vs paleo debate. As Dave Sheahan shares in this video there are many plant based sources of iron and iron deficiency anaemia should not be a concern unless you are not eating a whole food plant based diet and instead living as a junk food vegan in which case you will experience iron deficiency symptoms. There are many vegan sources of iron including : Tofu black and kidney beans chickpeas pumpkin seeds dried fruit such as apricots arthichoke and many more Women should aim for 15 mg a day and males 10mg a day. If you are ever experiencing iron deficiency symptoms and worried about having iron deficiency anemia get your iron levels checked but you should be fine once you are consuming regular vegan sources of iron.
