Performed by Reade Park -------------------------------------------------- 40:33 - Sun Wukong's Toccata Sergio Assad (b. 1952) (dedicated to Meng Su) Performed by Emilia Díaz Delgado -------------------------------------------------- About the artists: Reade Park, age 18, is the first-place winner of the Senior Division of the Guitar Foundation of America’s 2022 International Youth Competition, the second-place winner of the 2022 James Stroud Classical Guitar Competition, and an Honorable Mention awardee of the 2023 and 2022 National YoungArts Foundation competitions. In 2021, he appeared as a soloist on NPR’s From the Top program. Emilia Díaz Delgado, age 13, is classical guitarist and filmmaker. She was a featured soloist at the 2022 SFCM Sergio Assad Birthday Celebration Concert, has made several appearances on the national public radio program From the Top, has been featured in concerts sponsored by Austin Classical Guitar, Odeon, and the South Bay Guitar Society, and won second prize in the Junior Division of the Guitar Foundation of America’s 2022 International Youth Competition. Trent Park, age 15, attends the math-based Proof School, in San Francisco. Most recently, he won a won a First Class Honors Award on his completion of Level 9 in the Royal Conservatory of Music Certificate Program and was named a semi-finalist for the 2022 James Stroud National Classical Guitar Youth Competition. Ethan Boyers, age 17, is a senior at Sonoma Academy in Santa Rosa, California. Ethan won 2nd prize at the Guitar Foundation of America’s 2022 International Youth Competition Senior Division. About the teacher: Scott Cmiel is chair of the Guitar Department at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music Pre-College and Continuing Education Divisions and widely known as an effective and inspirational instructor of students with exceptional artistic achievements. A recipient of Artist Teacher Awards from the American String Teachers Association of California, the Romero Guitar Institute, and Sierra Nevada Guitar Classical Gala West, he has also been featured in the Academy Award nominated film Jules at Eight, a profile of jazz master Julian Lage. Scott's students have won top awards in many national and international competitions including the American String Teachers Association National Soloist Competition, the Guitar Foundation of America International Youth Competition, the Christopher Parkening International Youth Competition, the James Stroud National Classical Guitar Youth Competition and the YoungArts Competition.
