Thousands of young people pray together for peace
A #Taizé gathering of the European youth has brought approximately 4,000 young people to Tallinn. The 47th European Youth ‘Pilgrimage of Trust’ is organized by an ecumenical Taizé brotherhood in #France in cooperation with the #Estonian Council of Churches. Since December 28, the young people who have arrived in #Estonia, have mainly been staying in homes to get to know the local life and culture. Their program includes daily workshops and tours. In the mornings, prayers are held in various #Tallinn churches. In the evenings, thousands of young people gather in the #Tondiraba Ice Hall to pray together for peace. "We pray for various troubled places in the world, but especially for #Ukraine,’’ said Urmas Viilma, Archbishop of the Estonian #Evangelical #Lutheran Church. Taizé youth gathering 2024 in Tallinn ends on Wednesday, 1 January, 2025. The next New Year’s Eve #Taizé youth meeting will take place in #Paris, #France. Also here at the evening prayers, there have been separate small interviews with young people from Ukraine, they have been asked how they themselves have been able to endure, what gives them hope, and these topics are present here, but at the same time, together with young people from Ukraine, young people from #Belarus have also been accepted here and here everyone is like one family, because people from nearly 40 countries have come here.'
