[NO.333] 누가복음 13:1-5 / 회개하지 않으면 다 망하리라 (말씀:손석구 박사)

1 그 때 마침 두어 사람이 와서 빌라도가 어떤 갈릴리 사람들의 피를 그들의 제물에 섞은 일로 예수께 아뢰니 2 대답하여 이르시되 너희는 이 갈릴리 사람들이 이같이 해 받으므로 다른 모든 갈릴리 사람보다 죄가 더 있는 줄 아느냐 3 너희에게 이르노니 아니라 너희도 만일 회개하지 아니하면 다 이와 같이 망하리라 4 또 실로암에서 망대가 무너져 치어 죽은 열여덟 사람이 예루살렘에 거한 다른 모든 사람보다 죄가 더 있는 줄 아느냐 5 너희에게 이르노니 아니라 너희도 만일 회개하지 아니하면 다 이와 같이 망하리라 예수님은 갈릴리에 사는 백성들을 사랑하셨고, 공생애의 대부분을 갈릴리에서 보내셨습니다. 많은 병자를 고치고 기적을 행하며, 천국복음을 전파하시고 가르치셨습니다. 갈릴리는 갈릴리 호수 주변입니다. 오늘은 알려지지 않는 두어 사람이 예수님께 왔습니다. 본문의 배경과 상황적으로 볼 때 바리새파 사람들이 은밀히 보낸 것으로 추정되며, 예수님을 잡기 위한 큰 덫을 가지고 왔습니다. ‘빌라도가 갈릴리 사람들의 피를 제물에 섞었다’는 말을 했습니다. 예수님이 애족주의가 발동해 화를 내며 빌라도를 저주하면 고발할 예정이던 것 같습니다. 그러나 예수님은 빌라도에 대한 언급을 피하시며 “너희는 이 갈릴리 사람들이 이같이 해 받으므로 다른 모든 갈릴리 사람들보다 죄가 더 있는 줄 아느냐?”(2)고 물으셨습니다. 당시 이스라엘 백성들은 재난은 범죄한 자에게 하나님이 내리는 형벌로 이해하고 있었습니다. 그리고 “아니라 너희도 만일 회개하지 아니하면 다 이와 같이 망하리라(3)고 하셨습니다. 이어서 또 다른 예를 들어 회개의 중요성을 강조하셨습니다. 잘 알려진 사건으로, 헤롯의 성전 건축 프로젝트 중의 하나로 실로암 못 근처에 망대를 만드는 중에 열 여덟명이 사망한 사고가 있었습니다. 이스라엘 백성들은 하나님이 용서할 수 없는 죄를 지어서 형벌을 받았다고 생각하고 있었지만 예수님은 ”죽은 열 여덟명이 예루살렘에 살던 사람보다 더 죄가 있느냐”(4)고 물으셨고 “아니라 너희도 만일 회개하지 아니하면 다 이와 같이 망하리라”(5)고 말씀하셨습니다. 사망 원인을 강조하는 대신 듣는 사람들에게 회개를 촉구하셨습니다. 회개란 인생의 모든 방향을 내 중심에서 하나님 중심으로 바꾸는 것입니다. 하나님이 인생의 주인이 되고 나는 그분의 말씀에 순종하는 종으로 사는 것입니다. 예수님을 먼저 믿고, 하나님의 자녀가 되어야 합니다. 그러면 성령이 마음에 오셔서 하나님을 주인으로 모시도록 도와주십니다. 이 간단한 하나님의 요구를 거절하고 회개하지 않으면 갈릴리에서 빌라도에게 희생된 사람처럼, 실로암 망대가 무너져 죽는 사람처럼 모두 망하게 될 것입니다. 요즈음 상황에 빗대면 “펜더믹으로 죽은 이들이 살아 있는 사람보다 죄가 더 있는 줄 아느냐? 아니라 너희도 회개하지 않으면 다 이와 같이 망하리라”고 할 수 있습니다. 사망의 원인이 아닌, 회개의 중요성을 말하는 것이라는 것을 이해해야 합니다. 사랑의 주님! 감사드립니다. 예수님 잘 믿고 회개하고 하나님의 자녀가 되어 하나님의 영광의 보좌에 이르게 하소서! 예수님의 이름으로 기도합니다. 아멘!! QT Sharing Text: Luke 13:1-5 Title: Unless You Repent, Everything Will Perish Jesus loved the people living in Galilee. So Jesus spent most of his public life in Galilee. Jesus healed many sick people in Galilee. He worked miracles, preached, and taught the gospel of the kingdom. Galilee is around the Sea of Galilee. But today, a couple of unknown people came to Jesus. Judging from the background and circumstances of the text, it seems that this person was sent secretly by the Pharisees. They made a great trap to catch Jesus. Then they brought it and started a conversation with Jesus naturally. It said that Pilate had mixed the blood of the Galileans with their offerings. They had the expectation that when Jesus heard this, Jesus' patriotism would be invoked, and they would become angry and curse Pilate. Then it seems that here Jesus was going to accuse Pilate with his horsetail. But Jesus very technically avoids their conversation and makes no mention of Pilate. Instead, he asked, “Do you think that these Galileans were worse sinners than all the other Galileans because they suffer in this way?” (2). The background of Jesus' words was that the people of Israel at that time understood that calamity was God's punishment for sinners. And Jesus continued, “No! but unless you repent, you too will all perish” (3). And Jesus emphasized the importance of repentance with another example. It was a well-known event to the people of the time. One of Herod's temple building projects involved the death of 18 people in an accident while building a tower near the Pool of Siloam. Jesus thought that the people of Israel at that time were punished for committing a sin that God could not forgive and all those who died at that time. But Jesus asked, “Do you think they were more guilty than all the others living in Jerusalem?” (4). And Jesus said, “No! But unless you repent, you too will all perish” (5). These words of Jesus do not emphasize the cause of the 18 dead. This is a message that calls for repentance to those who hear the words of Jesus now. So what is repentance? Repentance is changing the whole direction of my life from being self-centered to God-centered. Let God be the master of my life and I live as a servant who obeys His word. To live like this, you must first believe in Jesus and become a child of God. Then the Holy Spirit of God will come into my heart and help me to have God as Lord in my heart. If we reject this simple God's request and do not repent, we will all perish, like the one who was sacrificed to Pilate in Galilee, and the one who perishes when the tower of Siloam falls. In today's words, do you know that those who died from the pandemic are more guilty than those who are alive now? No, but unless you repent, you too will all perish in the same way. Please understand that the emphasis here is not on the cause of death, but on the importance of repentance. Shalom!! Dear Lord! Thank you.
