The temptation of bread – Since Jesus was fasting and hungry, Satan told Him to turn stones into bread, attempting to make Him use His divine power for personal needs. But Jesus replied, "Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God." (Matthew 4:4) 2. The temptation to test God – Satan took Jesus to the pinnacle of the temple and told Him to throw Himself down, quoting Psalm 91, which speaks of God's angels protecting Him. Jesus responded, "You shall not tempt the Lord your God." (Matthew 4:7) 3. The temptation of earthly kingdoms – Finally, Satan offered Jesus all the kingdoms of the world if He would bow down and worship him. Jesus firmly rejected him, saying, "Away with you, Satan! For it is written: 'You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve.'" (Matthew 4:10) After this, Satan was forced to leave, and angels came to minister to Jesus.
