
Future food, edible insectivore view
Did you know that edible insects are drawing attention as the answer to the looming food crisis? In fact, more and more farms are using edible insects to increase their added value. Insect restaurant and 'Opening Experience' located in South Africa actually serve food using insect powder! In today's video, we reviewed four out of seven food insects licensed in Korea: wheatworm, twin crickets, rice grasshoppers, and silkworm pupae. After actually eating the most commonly treated food insect, the milworm, I even used it to make and eat the mealworms. Of all the foods, especially insects that are seen as future food are meaningful in terms of environment, economy and nutrition! 1. Less greenhouse gases are emitted when raising insects than when raising cows or pigs. 2. Insects have high economic value because they can be grown in small spaces and small amounts of feed. 3. It is a high protein food with higher nutritional value than pigs.
