A suspect is hospitalized after being shot when he pointed a gun at an officer during a domestic violence investigation Thursday night. Officers responded to a call just after 9 p.m. on the 2000 block of Nevada Street. A caller reported a domestic dispute between her adult daughter and her daughter's live-in boyfriend. The suspect's girlfriend told police that he had been "very aggressive" and was threatening her. The caller and her daughter believed the boyfriend was hiding at the house and officers began a search. Officers located the boyfriend in the garage, where he was pointing a gun at his own face. After being ordered multiple times to drop the gun, the suspect instead pointed the gun towards an officer. The officer fired once, hitting the suspect, according to a release by Toledo police. The suspect dropped the gun, which was recovered in the garage. He did not fire at officers. The suspect, who has not been identified, was taken into custody and hospitalized. He is expected to survive. The officer will be placed on paid administrative leave per standard procedure. The incident is under investigation and further details will be released.
