I know I have because I’ve asked both of these questions a lot: “Why God why?” and “When God, when?” I’ve been considering my prayer life quite a bit lately. I’ve come to one conclusion: Jesus never wondered why or when. In fact, the closest Jesus came to wondering was when he asked “If” there was another way to accomplish the Father’s purpose other than the cross. My why’s and when’s are usually motivated by a lack of knowing God’s purpose in the first place - Jesus even asking "if" understood His purpose. I wonder how differently our prayer lives would be if we began with accepting His purpose for our lives rather than trying to move God for our own purposes. That’s probably the reason immediately after acknowledging the Father for who He is, in the second part of the Lord’s Prayer that Jesus taught us to pray is, “Your will be done on earth (my life) as it is in heaven.” Enjoy the service!
