UTC May Sell Rocketdyne As Space Program's Future Is Unclear

United Technologies Corp. (NYSE:UTX) announced that it could sell its rocket-engine business as the industry faces an extended period of uncertainty following the end of NASA's shuttle program. Late Sunday, The Wall Street Journal reported that Jim Masser, head of the conglomerate's Rocketdyne unit, said selling the company was just one option under review and there have been no formal talks with possible bidders. The future of the U.S. space program is unclear as it is being fought over by competing visions in Congress and the White House. United Technologies has a potential upside of 14.2% based on a current price of $86.71 and an average consensus analyst price target of $99.06.
