Today we celebrate with profound joy the feast of the Holy Archangels Michael, Gabriel, and Raphael. Celestial beings who, from the beginning, have served God and fulfilled special missions: Michael, defender and warrior against evil; Gabriel, messenger of great revelations; and Raphael, healer of the wounds of body and soul. On this holy day, the Gospel of John 1:47-51 invites us to contemplate an even deeper mystery: Jesus' gaze that penetrates Nathanael's heart and reveals him as "a man without deceit." Jesus sees what is hidden, knows thoughts, understands feelings, and promises: "You will see heaven opened, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of Man."
