How to Sleep Better with Hiatal Hernia Syndrome

Sleep can be miserable with Hiatal hernia syndrome. You can awaken with acid reflux, heart palpitations and/or a panic attack. When you're lying horizontal at night you have no benefit from gravity pulling your stomach and diaphragm down. Therefore, your already aggravated stomach and diaphragm are made worse at night as it rises higher. Some things you can do are: Wait 3 hours after dinner and before going to bed. Take a light stroll for 15 to 30 minutes after dinner to help you digest. Elevate the head of your bed to help reduce the acid reflux. Practice box breathing to engage your vagus nerve and shift you out of fight or flight. (Note: I demonstrate box breathing in this video.) Consider trying a device called Truvaga which is easily used but highly effective in normalizing vagus function. I do have a discount code for you if you're interested. Go to truvaga.com and enter this code to get a discount: RCMCplus or RCMC350. I do recommend the plus for cost efficiency. We've been using this for close to a year and are happy with its effects.
