Canadian health officials provided an update on the country's COVID-19 cases as the daily toll was higher than average over the past several days. Canada added 445 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 Monday, continuing an upward trend in daily infections that stretched through the weekend. The new cases bring the country’s total to 111,096, although over 97,000 of those patients have since recovered, representing over 87 per cent of the total to date. Speaking with reporters on Tuesday, Deputy Chief Public Health Office of Canada Dr. Howard Njoo said the vast majority of the increase in the proportion of cases is among young adults. Njoo said there were a number of reasons to explain the increase, including fatigue, more likely to have indoor parties, and the "invincible factor" of young people who are most likely to have mild or asymptomatic symptoms of COVID-19.
