■ Sotagliflozin is an SGLT2 inhibitor that also inhibits gastrointestinal SGLT1. Inhibition of SGLT2 increases urinary glucose excretion, whereas inhibition of SGLT1 appears to delay glucose absorption and reduce postprandial glucose. ■ Sotagliflozin is a new drug approved by an FDA (SCORED Trail) for patients with Diabetes and Chronic Kidney Disease. Patients with diabetes mellitus are at high risk for both heart failure and ischemic events. Sodium–glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitors have been shown to be effective for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus and to lower the risk of hospitalization for heart failure among patients with or without previous heart failure. #sotagliflozin #sglt2i #antidiabetic #meded #pharmacologymadeeasy #pharmacybyasim References: 1- https://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056... 2- https://cardiab.biomedcentral.com/art... sotagliflozin, SGLT1 inhibitors, SGLT2 inhibitors, antidiabetic drugs, antidiabetic drugs pharmacology, antidiabetic drugs classification, SGLT2 inhibitors diabetes, SGLT2 inhibitors heart failure, SGLT2 inhibitors mechanism of action, SGLT2 inhibitors side effects, SGLT2 inhibitors pharmacology, SGLT2 vs SGLT1 inhibitors, pharmacology made easy, pharmacy by asim, Chapters: 0:00 - intro 0:09 - SGLT2 inhibitors 0:32 - sotagliflozin pharmacology 0:57 - SCORED trial 1:19 - Side effects of sotagliflozin 1:32 - Clinical uses of sotagliflozin Credits for picture: The NEW ENGLAND JOURNAL of MEDICINES 🔴 You can also show your support by following us on: YouTube👉🏼: https://www.youtube.com/channel/pharm...
