Britain votes to leave the European Union
An historic day for the world. The United Kingdom has voted yes to exit the European Union. 52 percent of voters have said yes to Brexit. Prime Minister David Cameron says he'll step down in October. In an announcement, Cameron said new leadership is needed. The Prime Minister was against the move to leave. So far, all of the 382 local counting areas have declared their results. Over 17 million votes are for "Leave", as against the 16 million for "Remain. The majority of voters in England and Wales voted to leave, while every council in Scotland saw remain majorities. There was a high turnout for Thursday's historic referendum, standing at 72 percent. The European Parliament President Martin Schulz has reacted to the news, saying he expects negotiations over Britain's departure from the EU to begin quickly.
