Israel has released updated figures detailing the human cost of the conflict since Hamas’ October 7 attack two years ago. According to the Defense Ministry, 1,152 Israeli security personnel, including soldiers, police officers, Shin Bet agents, and civilian security staff, have been killed. Most casualties occurred during fighting in Gaza, the West Bank, and Lebanon, with 42% under the age of 21, reflecting the young demographic of mandatory military service. The conflict has left over 6,500 family members bereaved, including 1,973 parents, 351 widows, 885 orphans, and 3,481 siblings. Funerals for the fallen have been conducted in 264 cemeteries and military plots across Israel, with eight soldiers buried abroad. The Department for Families of Fallen Soldiers continues to provide emotional and financial support, commemorating the memory of the deceased and preserving their heritage for future generations.
