Mendelssohn | Psalm 42 - Wie der Hirsch schreit | Voices of Hope | Reformation Sunday 2023

Desert Hope's choir, Voices of Hope, presented "Wie der Hirsch schreit" on October 29, 2023, Reformation Sunday. This is a lush and lovely classical choral setting of Psalm 42 verse 1 by Felix Mendelssohn. The Amplified version translates Psalm 42 verse 1 like this: "As the deer pants [longingly] for the water brooks, So my soul pants [longingly] for You, O God." You can hear the sounds of longing and yearning for God through the way that Mendelssohn composes the choral parts. The choir was conducted by Dr. Greg Silverman and accompanied by Debbie Osborn.
