St. John Cantius (20 October): Simplicity of Life
“The Lord preserves the simple; when I was brought low, He saved me.” — Psalm 116:6 In this inspiring homily, we reflect on the Simplicity of Life through the example of Saint John of Kanty (John Cantius) — a brilliant Polish scholar, humble priest, and model of holiness. Born in 1390, St. John of Kanty lived a life of intellectual brilliance and deep humility, giving all he had to the poor and living a life of complete dependence on God. His life teaches us the beauty of poverty, simplicity, patience, and charity. Through the story of this humble saint, we are reminded of Christ’s own simplicity — born in a manger, possessing nothing, yet giving everything for our salvation.
