The Power of Eight: 8x8 Marine Personnel Carrier

The Lockheed Martin & Patria 8x8 is a standing entry into the Marine Personnel Carrier Program, an effort to find a replacement for the light armored vehicle. The 8x8, which gets its name from the eight wheels that move it across any number of obstacles, is a fully amphibious modular vehicle platform that has six variants, including an infantry fighting vehicle and an ambulance model. The 8x8 is larger than the LAV, outweighing it by 10,000 pounds, as well as being longer and wider, yet shorter in height.
