Paul Washer — Dating, Marriage, And Christian Conduct

This is a long teaching regarding dating and marriage, and also how a Christian ought to behave in both. As Christians, we date with a purpose and that purpose is marriage, right from the first date. As Christians, we stay committed to one spouse, and we sacrifice our happiness to remain married to that person. Do not seek to date as the world does. As Voddie Baucham said, “Modern American dating is no more than glorified divorce practice. Young people are learning how to give themselves away in exclusive, romantic, highly committed (at times sexual) relationships, only to break up and do it all over again.” May you honor that person, and protect their purity while dating, and have marriage always in view. Do not seek to divorce your spouse for any reason (apart from the reasons given by Christ and the apostle Paul, which are adultery and desertion). As James Montgomery Boice said, “Instead of trying to find loopholes in God's [laws to get divorced]... we ought to be shouting the holiness of marriage from the housetops. It is better to endure much personal unhappiness than to treat as expendable the solemn vows of the wedding service.” ------ Source:    • Dating, Courtship, and Marriage - Paul Washer   Backup of the original source (in case the source is no longer available): rumble.com/v405i5m-paul-washer-dating-courtship-and-marriage.html web.archive.org/web/20231207204340/https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AP6cc2aBecE
