Fiery semi crash kills 1, injures others on I-65 northbound in downtown Indy
The northbound lanes of Interstate 65 in downtown Indianapolis were closed for several hours after a fiery crash involving a semi-tractor trailer and two cars early Friday morning. Flames and heavy smoke could be seen far from the crash scene as first responders arrived around 12:05 a.m. Nov. 8 in the northbound lanes of I-65 north of West Street. An Indiana State Police spokesperson said a driver was on the phone with a dispatcher reporting that she had been involved in a crash on I-65. While reporting that crash, the woman told the dispatcher that she had just been hit again. One person was killed, and a driver of one of the cars was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
