Savonius VAWT - Helical Ver.2.0 - Designed to be 3D printed in one piece - Link to CAD model below
VERSION 2 - Huge improvement on Version 1 in terms of converting wind to energy - Removing the bucket-overlap which is not needed in a 'Helical' Savonius and changed to a much taller aspect-ratio, as used by Finnish VAWT builders, Windside for several decades. STL, STEP and Parasolid - https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:585... As before, for a small scale sculpture you can print it as it is. Larger 'functional' versions should make use of the least amount of infill possible; only just enough for it to hold it's shape. The inner core should be much more air than plastic. The reason for this is that 'weight' effects efficiency; the lighter it is, the less wind will be needed to get it spinning as there will be less friction in the bearing. Any savings in friction can be added to the total useful energy extractable from the final device as an electrical generator. Designed to run on a single bottom bearing. The person printing shall have to decide themselves which bearing to use and how to fit it. A small center-mark for drilling has been incorporated into the bottom surface. Provided in extra-high-res STL and also in completely smooth STEP and Parasolid.
