SUSPICIOUS DEATHS: Homicide investigation underway after 2 killed in house fire

Philadelphia police say a deadly house fire in the city's Tioga-Nicetown section is now a homicide investigation. Officials said the fire started just before 4 a.m. in the 1400 block of Jerome Street. Two people were pulled from the second floor of the home and were taken to area hospitals. Both of the victims died a short time later. Officials said the fire was placed under control at about 4:20 a.m. Police are awaiting autopsies to confirm the cause of death, but the department has taken over the investigation.
