Their earliest works were influenced by progressive rock, hard rock, and heavy metal, but the band gradually ventured into more conventional and radio-friendly works by incorporating further styles, such as arena rock and pop rock. Queen II is the second studio album by the British rock band Queen. It was released on 8 March 1974 by EMI Records in the UK and Elektra Records in the US. It is significant for being the first album to contain elements of the band's signature sound of multi-layered overdubs, vocal harmonies, and varied musical styles. Seven Seas of Rhye is the closing track (track eleven), written by Freddie Mercury. The instrumental version appears on their debut studio album Queen and the final version appears on the second studio album Queen II. Seven Seas of Rhye was released prior to the album in the UK, being released on the 23 February 1974 (UK) and 20 June 1974 (US). It was Queen’s breakthrough peaking at number 10 in the United Kingdom. Lyrics [Intro] [Verse 1] Fear me you Lords And lady preachers I descend upon your earth From the skies I command your very souls You unbelievers [Chorus] Bring before me what is mine The seven seas of Rhye [Verse 2] Can you hear me you peers And privy counselors? I stand before you naked to the eyes I will destroy any man Who dares abuse my trust [Chorus] I swear that you'll be mine The seven seas of Rhye [Bridge] Sister, I live and lie for you Mister, do and I'll die You are mine, I possess you I belong to you forever (Ever, ever) [Guitar Solo] [Verse 4] Storm the master-marathon I’ll fly through By flash and thunder-fire And I'll survive (I'll survive, I'll survive) Then I'll defy the laws of nature (I'll survive, I'll survive, I'll survive) And come out alive, then I'll get you Be gone with you You shod and shady senators Give out the good Leave out the bad evil cries I challenge the mighty Titan And his troubadours [Chorus] And with a smile I'll take you to the seven seas of Rhye [Outro] Oh I do like to be beside the seaside! Oh I do like to be beside by the sea I do like to stroll upon the Prom, Prom, Prom! Where the brass band plays: "tiddely-om-pom-pom!" Oh I do like to be beside the seaside! Oh I do like to be beside by the sea When I'm down beside the sea, I'm beside meself with glee Beside the seaside! Beside the sea
