Line-to-Line Knot: Tie Braided Fishing Line to any Type of Line

The Yucatan Knot is a strong and practical choice for connecting single strands, especially when joining a monofilament leader to a braided line. Instead of using a knot to double the main line, which is usually done with a Bimini Twist or spider hitch, you can double the line without tying a knot. After tying the Yucatan Knot, trim off any excess line. This method creates a single running line and a secure Yucatan Knot, preparing your leader for use. Yucatan Knot Tying Instructions 1. Double 4 inches of the main line without using a knot. Lay the leader and double the main lines from the reel parallel. 2. If you use a monofilament or fluorocarbon line, wrap the doubled line around the leader 4 to 6 times. For the braided line, wrap it 10 to 15 times. 3. Then, feed the end of the leader through the loop at the end of the doubled line. 4. Hold the doubled main line, the tag end of the leader, and the leader tightly. Pull in opposite directions to tighten the knot. Once the tag end of the leader is aligned with the leader line, you can let go of it. Finally, pull the leader and the doubled main line to finish tightening the wraps.
