Annual Allowance and the TPS
There are two elements to the Annual Allowance and problems in exceeding the allowance can, without warning, affect those in defined benefit schemes such as the Teachers' Pension Scheme. I am not qualified but this is my understanding of the two uses of the annual allowance for tax relief and assessing if a tax charge is due.
