Like John the Baptist: Uncompromising Witness #godsword #bible #jesuschrist #biblicaltruth #faith Sermon | John 1:19-34 | Sunday Morning Service, November 23, 2025. Preacher: Rocky Stevenson In John 1:19–34, the Gospel writer brings us to the banks of the Jordan to listen to one of Scripture’s clearest and most powerful testimonies about Jesus Christ. Priests and Levites press John the Baptist with the question, “Who are you?” Yet John refuses to draw attention to himself. Instead, he directs every eye and every heart toward the One coming after him — the eternal Son who stepped into the world to save sinners. In this sermon we trace the Baptist’s witness in three movements: his humble denial of self, his bold declaration “Behold, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!” (John 1:29), and the Spirit-given sign that confirms Jesus as the promised Messiah and the true Son of God. Through Passover imagery, Isaiah’s suffering servant, and the visible descent of the Spirit, Scripture shows us who Jesus is and why His coming demands a response. The aim of this message is simple: to help you see Jesus clearly, believe Him sincerely, and follow Him joyfully. Testimony is God’s appointed means to awaken faith — and as we behold the Lamb, the Spirit opens our eyes to the glory of the One who takes away sin and gives life.
