Seeds to start in March [ZONE 5 - Vlog]

Today, I’m starting seeds in my grow room, and I’m excited!! This is something anyone can do at home, whether you have a small space or a large one. I used to do this on my windowsill. Even though it’s cold outside (minus eleven degrees Celsius!), I’m committed to getting things started. The wood situation is tight, and it’s cold in the garage, so I’ve got a fire going to warm up the space. I’ve spent some time organizing the seed room, moved some trays around and decided to bring in a stainless steel table for extra space. I’m starting with celery, onions, and thyme. I’ve got a few different types of celery: Utah, Tango, and Hudson. I’ll be planting a lot of onions this year too, especially the blush variety, which I love because they store so well. I plan to plant at least four times the amount I did last year. For onions, I’m starting them indoors early to get larger, healthier bulbs by the maturity date. The soil mix is important, so I’ve made my own mix with ProMix, MP mix, and added some bone meal for root growth. After filling pots with the soil, I sowed my seeds, following the instructions on the packets. I keep everything on a heat mat to keep the soil warm, which helps with germination. I’ll water the seeds regularly to keep the soil damp as they start to sprout. Even though it's still freezing outside, I’m pumped for gardening season. It’s a lot of work, but it’s so rewarding to grow my own food. In a few weeks, I’ll start the cold-hardy veggies like broccoli, but for now, it’s all about getting the onions and celery going. Thanks for joining me on this gardening journey!
