Be calm.” — PM responds to Venezuela war rumors • Those were the words of Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar as she sought to allay public fears over rumours of an impending war in neighboring Venezuela. • Speaking with reporters at the Recruitment Drive Center at the Couva Cycling Center on Thursday, October 23rd, the Prime Minister dismissed the claims as “fear-mongering” spread by individuals seeking to create panic. • She said she was unaware of any reports of war or of thousands of Russian missiles being delivered to Venezuela, as was being circulated online. • The Prime Minister added that she would not engage in a “tit-for-tat” over statements allegedly made by Venezuela’s Vice President, Delcy Rodríguez, who reportedly accused her of “driving Trinidad and Tobago off a cliff.” Second firebomb attack at San Fernando law firm • For the second time in less than a month, the San Fernando law office of attorney Saira Lakhan has been targeted by arsonists. TTDF civilian worker gunned down after facebook marketplace trap in malick • Police are investigating the murder of 56-year-old Steve Anthony, a civilian employee of the Trinidad and Tobago Defence force (TTDF), who was shot and killed in Malick, Morvant, on Tuesday morning. • Around 10:00 a.m. on October 21st, 2025, officers on mobile patrol in Morvant responded to a report of a man shot and lying on the roadway at Upper 9th Avenue, Malick. Three-day old baby, Kemani Gordon died at his Bholai Street East Chase Village home on October 21st, 2025. • The child was found dead at home on Tuesday morning just after 4am.
